Pen & Wash Workshop with John Harrison
Here’s an opportunity to try your hand at “pen and wash” – the creation of an ink drawing, which is then tinted with watercolour – with Yorkshire artist John Harrison.
John will start the day with a brief overview of his particular style of line and wash, and the importance he places on drawing and sketching. This will be followed by a group project where you’ll all be working from the same reference photograph (which will be provided) utilising the techniques described by John, who will offer advice, guidance and tips throughout the day.
Depending on the speed at which you’re happiest working , there will be an opportunity to start (or even complete) a second piece, again choosing from a further selection of reference photos supplied by John, and at the end of the workshop, there will be a short informal assessment and review session: participation in this is completely voluntary, as John is aware that not everyone is comfortable in this setting.
This workshop is most suitable for those with some experience in Pen and Wash — even if only a few hours, but John is equally comfortable with complete beginners.

Refreshments will be provided on arrival. There will be a lunch break and a chance to browse our lovely shop. Please feel free to bring a packed lunch or you may prefer to buy lunch from the cafe opposite or the village shop.
*CANCELLATION POLICY*
Please note that there is strictly no refund (or moving to a different workshop) if cancellation is up to 14 days before the event but you are free to send a substitute. If cancellation is a calendar month before the event then we will offer a 100% refund. If cancellation occurs between these times we will refund you with a credit note. If cancelling a place which has been booked using a gift voucher a cash refund can not be made.
If we need to cancel a workshop due to unforeseen circumstances we will aim to give as much notice as possible and a full refund. Unfortunately we cannot accept any liability for travel or other costs.
