Two posts, in two days?

Yes… the news is coming thick and fast!
Hot on the heels of last week’s live demo with Etchr Studio comes a mini workshop on April 29th, at 5pm GMT. There’s a small fee ($6- about £3.80), but for that, you’ll be emailed a link for the recording of the workshop so you can pause, rewind and revisit parts you need to examine.

It’ll be great to see as many of you as possible on the 29th….

Live demo

Well, that was a great experience!
A first for me: a live streamed demonstration to an audience I couldn’t see or hear, but who were able to ask questions and comment in the live chat. It’s marvellous really to think I was able to connect with a global audience just by using two mobile phones,& a clever piece of software.

I’ve read through all the chat comments,& I am really humbled to realise that this Yorkshireman’s drawings seem to strike a chord with so many people … if you were one of the live audience, thank you 🙏

The demo is still available to watch on YouTube ( link below) and there’s also a link to Etchr’s booking page for the workshop on the 29th April.

a free live demo on the youtubes

It’s a bit short notice I know, but I’m delighted to announce my first collaboration with Etchr Studio ( a fabulous global art supplies company ) – I’ll be doing a FREE live demo this Thursday 15 at 3pm GMT, which will be streamed on their YouTube channel.

The link is below ,& you can set an alert so you don’t miss it . I think it might be available after the live stream if you can’t watch at the time, and it’s interactive too, so plenty of opportunity to ask me questions. It’d be great if you could make it…😎There’s also a link in the video description to sign up for a later workshop on the 29th ( just click on the ‘see more’ text): this is for a very small fee ( $5… about £3.50!), so if you fancy painting along…. here’s your chance.

You can also download the reference photo I’ll be using in the demo if you feel like following along, or doing your own version: if you f do, it would be great to see them.

Viewer discretion advised……

I was really honoured a couple of weeks ago to be contacted by Taria Dawson, who runs a couple of websites and a great Youtube channel dedicated to urban sketching: she’d been asked a question by one of her subscribers, and turned to me to help.

The question was about leaving white space in a drawing/painting- the artist had noticed this method in a few artists’ work and quite naturally, wanted to find out the processes involved. It’s a question I am often asked at demos and workshops, so it was great to be asked to focus on the technique.

Taria’s emails resulted in a Zoom interview, which has been turned into an hour long Youtube feature, which you can see here: apologies for the rambling nature of my answers and my untrained speaking style…you would never mistake me for a glib, fluent presenter!!!!! Please take the time to explore all of the video-Taria’s done a great job assembling a really interesting film and her editing skills are very obviously far more developed than my own. Have a look at the links in her comprehensive description below the video…plenty of inspiration to be gleaned form her own sites and films.

me, on video!

Eagle eyed visitors may well notice that there’s a new page added to this site: I’ve been lucky enough to have been commissioned to create video demonstrations for a few venues and organisations over the past, strange year, and it occurred to me that not everyone might have seen them, or even know where they are. So, I added a whole new page with these videos collected in one place: you can find it on the tab cunningly titled ‘Online Demos and Tutorials’…oh, and apologies for the lockdown hair!!!!

I’ll add to this as time goes on, so keep coming back to check.

Thank you all for your ongoing support- it means a great deal to me, and have a great weekend wherever you are, and whatever you’re doing.

A new DEMONSTRATION

Morning….

Today should have seen me in sunny Bridlington, limbering up ready for my appearance on the main stage for a live demo, with a workshop this afternoon, but COVID put paid to that.
Instead, you can watch my demo here- it’s in three instalments, so look for the links to parts two and three on the Artwaves page or Youtube channel…..apologies for the mumbling old chap in the introduction bit.

Get me…all digital!

Hello. News of workshops, and new stuff in my etsy shop

Hard to believe it’s early a month since I posted anything here-so sorry: I’ve sat down several times to compile a list of workshops I have booked for this year but have held off publishing it so far- with good reason, as I’ve already had some of those first on my list in early spring cancelled or postponed.I will do so by the first week in February though, as I’m sure (like me) you might be getting a little stir crazy by now, and perl haps booking a workshop for the summer, or later in the year will give us something to look forward to.

It’s not all been gloom and doom though- I’ve been busy behind the scenes and will soon be able to share some news of a really exciting partnership with a global brand which will see me able to offer online demos and workshops – no substitute for the real thing of course, but still the next best thing. I’m just waiting for ‘i’s to be dotted and ‘t’s crossed before I can do so……

Shameless marketing bit: after a really good suggestion from a follower, I’ve just added a new product to my Etsy shop…sets of 10 notelet cards (with envelopes) featuring my 6 new card designs….you can find them here:

These are just two of the available designs……..
