The feast of St Valentine with York SAA

I spent Valentine’s day with the York & District SAA, who welcomed me & looked after me so graciously ( fabulous home made soup, bread & cake!!!) while I led a line and wash workshop in the splendid surroundings of one of the nicest Village Halls I’ve been in – Scotton, between Knaresborough and Ripley in the lovely North Yorkshire countryside. They were all so eager and keen to see what I had to show them, which is always a good start, and once we got going, the questions started to flow.

Here are some pics from the day, including my version of the morning’s demonstration piece: a row of cottages in Grassington. One of the most rewarding things from the day -apart from the many, many kind compliments- was watching how everyone’s pieces develop into so many different versions of the same image. Without exception, the members are all gifted artists, and there were several finished pieces where I thought ‘I’d have that on my wall’!

I just love art!!!!
