It’s all about video this week: I did a free live demo for Etchr on their Youtube channel, and I finally got round to filing the loose watercolour stage of my one-line drawing from a month ago ( see, it’s not only James Bond suffering from film delays!)
Went to Tesco this morning ( big UK supermarket for my overseas readers). Strolling down the beverage aisle,& spotted this, so I guess I can now reveal that I was invited to provide an illustration for Yorkshire Tea as part of the rebrand of their Gold range. It’s probably my highest profile commission to date,& to say I was honoured and pleased is an understatement .
I drew this nearly two years ago now, & the final drawing was arrived at over a period of two-three months,& the launch was delayed by COVID, & some technical issues caused by the special gold ink, so it’s very surreal to see it on the shelves, finally.I was pleased that they wanted to go with a pure line drawing of a ‘typical’ Yorkshire Dales scene rather than the traditional watercolour used on the main brand- as most of you know, drawing is at the very heart of what I do, so chuffed doesn’t cover it.
Slightly disappointed that, on my many visits to the offices in Harrogate, that I didn’t see the tea plantation, or meet Sean Bean….
In a shameless, blatant act of self promotion I would like to draw your attention to the availability ( in my Etsy shop ….. https://etsy.me/3EgZTZh ) of my calendar for next year.
Delighted to announce that my annual calendar will be available to purchase in my Etsy shop, as from this coming Friday 10th September. It features 12 ( well, a few more actually, if you count the cover collage 😎) drawings-with-colour from the last 12 months,& a couple from my archive.
In response to ever increasing postage costs-especially overseas- I’ve reduced the weight of the paper it’s printed on so I can offer the most cost effective shipping rates to my international friends….
There’s a link to my Etsy shop in the side menu, on my Instagram and Facebook pages.
I’m absolutely delighted that this great art showcase is finally happening after the inevitable COVID disruption, and so pleased that I’m involved.
I’ve got half a dozen framed originals, a good selection of mounted drawings ( so you can choose your own frame), my sketchbooks,& a good selection of new greetings cards.
If you need an excuse for a lovely day out in the stunning surroundings of RHS Harlow, then here it is….booking to secure admission is essential in these still odd times, and RHS admission charges will apply.
After the strangest fifteen months or so, I’m delighted to be able to announce that I have details of several actual, live, in-person workshops: these can be found on my Demos and Workshops page on this site, together with booking information for each venue.
A YORKSHIRE COMMISSION – REVEALED
I’ve been working on a fabulous commission for a set of illustrations to adorn a range of six Yorkshire themed scented candles: the first three have been launched to very healthy orders, and the next three will follow very shortly: you can order them here:
Yes, my third bit of news this week… I’m quite dizzy with the speed that my collaboration with Etchr is developing: the feedback from my free live demo last week is quite staggering, places for the workshop next week( 29th April at 5pm BST) are filling fast, and as if you haven’t had enough of me, the podcast interview I did with Ania from Etchr is now live… free to listen to in the link below….and I promise-no more from me this week. 🙂
