Volume 4 of my sketchbooks ….

……is nearly ready to go to print! I’;m just in the process of reading and re-reading the final page proofs before I press ‘go’…..

I feel very blessed that the previous 3 volumes of my little reproduction sketchbooks have been so well received and I’m delighted that I’m well ahead of my self imposed deadline: I usually have these ready to launch at the Staithes Festival in September, but if all goes to plan, they’ll be ready by the beginning of August!

This will give you a flavour of what the book will look like…

Workshop list

I’m fortunate to have a large number of workshops booked  well into next year, and, after a remark on my event in Ilkley  last week, I thought it would be useful to list the dates and locations, so anyone interested  can perhaps find one nearest?

Many of the workshops are run by art clubs and societies for their own membership, but I know many of them do active welcome visitors to their events, so if any of these interest you, drop me a line and I’ll be more than happy to put you in touch with the folks concerned.

Some are open to all comers though, and I’ve identified those with a capital P for public.

Here they are, in chronological order: I will update the list on monthly basis

A new workshop in a fab venue

I’m demonstrating all over the place….

It’s true…I seem to have clocked up quite a few miles just lately: Blackpool, Preston, Knaresborough, Macclesfield, and Silsden in the last few weeks, with a return visit to Harrogate and NIdderdale Art Group in the next day or so to run a workshop…

I simply love doing these demos and workshops to lovely groups of people of various art groups and societies… artists are, in the main, really nice people to meet and get to know and the time always seems to fly past.

Here are a couple of my pieces from recent events…oh, and I have some exciting news about workshops in the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the summer, but  I’ll save that for my next post….

The first is from my Macclesfield demo , which had a record attendance for the club, and the second one ( the streets of Saltaire) is from my Silsden demo earlier in the week.

My last workshop day at Ilkley Studios was a great success thankfully, so I’ve organised a second one: this one will focus on sketching in the lovely town of Ilkley, then the afternoon will be spent back in the studio working one of our sketches into a full-on painting in ‘my’ style of line and wash.

It’ll be on Saturday 1st April(no joke!!!) As before, I’ll supply the watercolour pair and the correct pen to use: you’ll need a sketchbook, paints and brushes.
Places will be limited so let me know y email, or comment,  if you’re interested at all and we can get your name on the list.

Happy New Year (10 days late)

To start the year off, I am beyond excited to share some news…earlier this week I finalised details for a series of one day workshops at a fabulous venue in the glorious Yorkshire Dales.
This has been a long cherished goal for me, and it’s finally happening!!!

The first days are in June and August…the flyer below has basic information, and if you want to look at the venue…just visit www.broadrake.co.uk

Rachel at Broadrake is handling all of the bookings so fire away: I really can’t tell you how chuffed I am -the venue and facilities are first class, the location itself is stunning…..I will have more information in the coming weeks and am happy to answer any questions as to what the days will cover…there will be lots of sketching in and around the farm, as well as watercolour painting indoors…can’t wait!!!
